1950s Moriage Dragonware Demitasse Lithophane Tea Set
Beautiful mid-century Moriage dragonware with a geisha lithophane in each tea cup, this tea-set from Japan is in mint vintage condition.
The set consists of a tea pot and lid, four demitasse cups, four matching saucers, sugar bowl and lid and a milk server. Each piece is marked on the bottom with "MADE IN JAPAN" without any other pottery marks.
The inside of the cups have a visibly embossed geisha lithophane that appears as a raised figure when viewed from above, and becomes luminescent when light shines through it. The teapot, sugar bowl, milk server, tea cups and the saucers are all hand decorated with gold, gray, white and pastel blue dragon motif.
Beautiful iridescent coloring throughout all pieces, a vibrant optical effect of rainbow-like colors that change in the light.
No condition issues: free of chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. The colors are vibrant and the moriage dragon motif has not faded.
