1960s Marie McCarthy for Larry Aldrich Velvet Dress
Beautiful Sixties velvet dress with incredible tailoring by Marie McCarthy for Larry Aldrich. One of the loveliest details from this dress is the super soft texture of the plush velvet. Other beautiful features are the boning in the mandarin collar to ensure it stands up, the two button flap near the collar that covers the front zipper of the dress. We're also in love with the in line pockets!
In 1957, Larry Aldrich became very involved in art collecting, and made Marie McCarthy who had been with the firm since 1943 the head designer. By the mid to late 60s, the label read “Marie McCarthy for Larry Aldrich.”
